Some places linger long after you leave. These are conversations about first impressions, unexpected moments, changed perspectives, and the memories that followed me home.

Was there anywhere that was an unexpected delight, a place no one had recommended to you prior to your visit?

Sweet Berry Farm. I found it while browsing Google Maps and decided to stop by because it was close to where I was staying. It ended up being an unexpected highlight of the trip! It’s such a cute, picturesque place, with a large strawberry farm, a market and café serving delicious homemade breakfast and lunch, and a shop filled with Rhode Island and strawberry-inspired homewares and stationery.

I loved it so much that I went back for breakfast twice. The bagels tasted like they were straight out of NYC and kept me full for hours!

Was there somewhere you visited that looked even better in real life than in photos?

The scenery along Ocean Drive. I really lucked out with sunshine during my visit, and the drive was unbelievably gorgeous. It just screamed New England summer to me.

I loved pulling over whenever I spotted a particularly beautiful view and taking it all in. Everywhere looked idyllic, like a photo of it could belong on the cover of Coastal magazine.

Is there anything you would do differently next time?

Give myself more time! I’d explore Rose Island, spend a full day and night on Block Island, and stay through July 4th weekend in Jamestown.

I realized that despite Rhode Island being the smallest state in the country, it really doesn’t feel that small when you start exploring. There’s so much to see, especially all the little coastal towns that make you want to slow down and wander.
